Local high school students, outfitted by The Cinderella Project

There’s a delightful tea party and fashion show fundraiser coming up this weekend at the Foothills Event Center! Join us as we welcome The Cinderella Project, a Nevada County non-profit organization. The Cinderella Project seeks to ensure that any high school student who can’t afford to attend prom can get the positive life experience of attending their high school prom. The tea party and fashion show will begin at 2:00 on Sunday, January 28th, and end at 4:00 pm.

The Cinderella Project offers special occasion dresses, suit rentals, salon appointments, dance tickets and accessories free of charge to high school juniors and seniors so they are able to attend their Junior Prom or Senior Ball in style. When the organization was founded in 2011, they outfitted 25 Nevada Union and Bear River girls for prom. In 2013, they began providing boys with tuxedos, too. In 2016, they were able to outfit 110 boys and girls!

According to The Cinderella Project’s website, their mission involves “Building self-esteem while making prom dreams come true. We do this by providing special occasion dresses and accessories free of charge to High School juniors and seniors so they may attend their Senior Ball or Prom.” Their volunteers are aptly-named “Fairy Godmothers,” and they focus on building the students’ self-esteem by surrounding them with positive role models and encouraging their future success.

If you’re interested in attending this special event that makes such a positive impact on Nevada County’s youth, please call The Cinderella Project at (530) 268-5172 or send them an email: NCCinderellaProject@gmail.com.
