Do you need help with your taxes this year? Volunteers from the AARP Tax Aide program are available here at the Foothills every Monday to give you advice and assistance! At no cost to you, the volunteers will provide tax preparation services and electronic filing of your Federal and California tax returns.
Tax Aide Nevada County is available from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm every Monday until April 16. This tax preparation service is free for Nevada County low- and middle-income residents of any age, with special consideration to those 60 and older. The program’s volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS.
Did you know that if you bought health insurance through Covered California and received Premium Tax Credits, you’re required to file a return? This Tax Aide group is able to handle most common personal tax returns. This includes returns that have details such as interest, salary, itemized deductions, dividends, pension, IRA withdrawals, capital gains, or stock transactions.
If you’re interested, you’ll need an appointment. Appointments are available on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They advise that you allow up to two hours for the tax preparation process. No walk-ins will be accepted, so you’ll need to book an appointment by calling 211 (just dial 2-1-1 or 877-847-0499) and then press “4”.
