Painted Mandolin will perform at the Foothills next Saturday!Fans of acoustic guitar and Jerry Garcia are in for a musical treat! Next Saturday, the jam band Painted Mandolin will perform at the Foothills Event Center, as part of our “It’s Happening at the Foothills” concert series. We hope that you can join us for an acoustic journey through Jerry Garcia’s music! Painted Mandolin will appear here on Saturday, January 12 from 7:30 to 10:00 pm.

Painted Mandolin is a four-piece band that delves into the acoustic side of Jerry Garcia. This all-star quartet features Joe Craven, who has created music and sound effects for soundtracks, commercials, computer games and has contributed to several Grammy-nominated projects. The Executive Director of RiverTunes, Craven also emcees many music festivals, like Delfest and the 40th Telluride Bluegrass.

His band digs into Garcia’s music from his jug band days with the bluegrass group Old and In the Way, to the Grateful Dead’s double live album “Reckoning” and Garcia’s collaborations with David Grisman in the Garcia Grisman Band. Take a high-energy acoustic journey through Jerry Garcia’s repertoire, with original arrangements and jams that rise up your spine. Painted Mandolin keeps you on your toes, as you dance to music that you love! Once you’re here, remember to fill out the door entry prize form for your chance to win two tickets to an upcoming Foothills event.

Praise for the band:
“Painted Mandolin has hit on an amazing combination of symbiosis playing old Jerry Garcia tunes, traditionals, and the good ol’ Grateful Dead. They get their audiences up and moving!” says Jay Saber of The Wheel Company.

Tom Miller, the Concert Coordinator for Don Quixote’s International Music Hall, Felton, California, says, “How do you possibly spice up the acoustic musical gumbo cooked up by Jerry Garcia over his 50 years of pickin’? You need more than great players, you need highly creative, innovative, spice masters to make it hot and fresh and imminently danceable. You need Painted Mandolin!”
