The first annual Crab Feed fundraiser for the local non-profit organization Lifetime Adoption Foundation was a wonderful success! The event, which included live music and a silent auction, was held here at the Foothills Event Center last Saturday night.
Delicious crab was provided by Mahoney’s Seafood, a well-known company who has provided fresh Dungeness crab for fundraisers for over 30 years. Runnin’ 4 Cover provided live music for dancing at the Lifetime Foundation crab feed, and covered many classic hits. The Foothills bar served wines from Montolivia, Avanguardia and Nevada City Winery, along with select beers.
With heaps of fresh, delicious crab, no one went home hungry! Many wonderful items were available at the silent auction portion of the evening. Just a few of the items include four tickets to a paint and sip class, growlers of beer from Grass Valley Brewing Co., and a Rough & Ready Vineyards getaway for four days and three nights. The band Runnin’ 4 Cover provided mellow dinner music and then ramped it up to get the dancers on the floor.
The crab feed raised funds for Lifetime Adoption Foundation, a local non-profit organization which provides support to children and women who are in crisis. They do this through helping women explore the option of adoption, and in turn, finding forever homes for babies and children.
At the beginning of the evening, Lifetime Adoption Foundation’s Director, Heather Featherston, gave a short presentation to share about the non-profit’s mission and outreach. Mardie Caldwell, the Founder of Lifetime Adoption Foundation, was the crab feed’s Master of Ceremonies and announced the winners of the raffle prize, door prize, and 50/50 raffle. Winners of the raffle prize will enjoy tickets to the next “It’s Happening at the Foothills” concert, Love Train. The crab feed was the Lifetime Adoption Foundation’s second fundraising event at the Foothills. Last March, the non-profit held their popular Bagna Cauda dinner here.
