CAPE will host Boogie Fever in the Foothills hereIf you love animals and love a good dance party, you’ll want to come out to the Foothills Event Center on Saturday, July 20th! The Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE) is having a fundraiser called “Boogie Fever in the Foothills” for their animal rescue programs here.

The Foothills Events Center is the perfect venue in Grass Valley for such an epic dance party! Our grand event space is 3,000 square feet, providing plenty of room for dancers to shake their groove thing. We provide free off-street parking for up to 140 cars and easy freeway access from historic Highway 49. Boogie Fever in the Foothills is made possible in part by a sponsorship from the Foothills Event Center. Join us to boogie the night away at this 70’s disco dance party, complete with a costume contest, photo booth, and raffle!

Audience and dancers at Painted Mandolin concertMatt Connelly, a popular local DJ, will play all the great disco hits while dancers boogie down in a swirl of fog and lights! He’ll assemble a Soul Train Line so dancers can showcase their best moves. Exciting raffle prizes will be given throughout the evening, so you’ll want to make sure to stick around until the end of the evening. Snacks will be available in exchange for a small donation to CAPE. The Foothills Bar will be serving beer, wine, and other beverages to keep the party going for hours. Duck into the photo booth to capture your 1970’s self for a lifetime of memories!

There will be prizes given for the Best Costume, so scour your closet or the local thrift stores for the most outrageous 70’s fashion you can find! We’re thinking leisure suits, bell bottoms, metallic wrap dresses, platform shoes, jumpsuits, and hot pants! In its heyday, disco clothing brought far-flung fashions together as no other movement had. In hot nightclubs like Studio 54, dressing for disco was a chance to wear your personality. With flashing lights, loud music, and a spinning disco ball, the opportunity for conversation was minimal, so one’s disco attire had to say it all.

CAPE strives to save the lives of at-risk and special needs animals, as well as to educate people on techniques to relieve animal suffering. CAPE was founded in 1992 and has helped thousands of animals. Through CAPE’s foster and adoption programs, animals who are injured, older, or recovering from an illness are placed into new, loving homes. The CAPE Animal Sanctuary was established in 2012 in Grass Valley and provides a permanent home for dozens of special needs animals. CAPE emphasizes that each animal has the right to a long, full life, free from pain and suffering. For more information about CAPE’s programs, please visit CapeAnimals.org.
