Sketch and Sip at the Foothills Next Week!

You may have heard that we host fun and laid-back paint and sip classes here at the Foothills Event Center, through Come Paint With Us. We’re excited to announce that Come Paint With Us has just launched a fun new addition to their schedule, “sketch and sip” classes! We hope that you can join us for a chill evening spent sipping wine and honing your sketching skills next Monday night! Come Paint With Us is putting on a class to provide an introduction to the world of sketching. The initial sketch and sip class in their series is called “Intro to Face Shapes.” In this class, you’ll receive step-by-step direction as you work through the process of sketching different faces, shapes, and emotions. The Intro to Face Shapes class is going to happen on Monday, May 7th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
 

This class will be led by a local digital artist, Katherine Dorland. Now a Junior-Level Concept Artist, Katherine still enjoys putting pen to paper and going back to the basics of sketching every chance she gets. We had a chance to sit down with Katherine and chat with her for a bit. When asked what she likes about teaching others, Katherine answered “I enjoy showing others that they can create art; they can do it! I like to show people that even the most complex image can be easy to make when you break it down into parts!”
 
Katherine had some profound things to say about art in general and sketching in particular. “What I love most about sketching is the freedom it provides. I feel like there aren’t any limits to what you can draw. I believe that nothing has to be perfect in sketching. In fact, it’s often the imperfections that make the sketch amazing! For me, art is a form of expression. It can act as a link between people, emotions, or ideas.”
 
Come Paint With Us will equip you with all of the supplies that you’ll need to begin sharpening your sketch skills. Just bring yourselves, your friends, and an openness to learn! The historic Foothills bar will be open, and serving wine, beer, and delicious appetizers.

All proceeds from this Come Paint With Us class goes to a local 501(c)(3) non-profit, Lifetime Adoption Foundation. This Foundation helps babies and children find forever families through adoption and provides scholarships to birth mothers.
