Two musicians perform on the Foothills stageLooking for music performances in Nevada County? Whether you’re a local, new in town, or just passing through, you’ll be sure to find something at the Foothills! Mardie Caldwell, Founder and Owner of the Foothills, sought to create an event and performing arts venue in which her dream of providing access to music and the arts locally could be realized. The Foothills Event Center has played host to numerous concerts, art shows, paint and sip classes, and performances.

“The music scene in Nevada County is alive and thriving, and I wanted help to sustain that through the Foothills. When you come to a show at the Foothills, you can be home within a few minutes.

That’s the beauty of coming to a show at our venue. We’re just five minutes from downtown Grass Valley! There’s no need to drive ‘down the hill’ to experience superb music,”
Mardie says.

To that end, the Foothills Event Center is one of the major sponsors of Music in the Mountains, a local non-profit organization which provides access to extraordinary classical music through performances and youth programs in Nevada County. We recently held a Music in the Mountains opera concert here, and received this wonderful note of gratitude. (Click on the note to view it larger):

Thank you note from Music in the Mountains audience member“Dear Ms. Caldwell,
My husband and I recently attended the Music in the Mountains presentation of Opera Modesto’s “Carmen in Concert.” Before the opera began and in the printed program, attention was drawn to your continuing and generous sponsorship.

As audience members, we want to thank you and the event center for assuring classical music will thrive in Nevada County.

In appreciation,
Jo Ann and George”

Petty Luv performs at the FoothillsThe Foothills Event Center also encourages music locally through the curation of our concert series, “It’s Happening at the Foothills.” Past acts include Lacy J. Dalton, The Rita Hosking Trio, Painted Mandolin, Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands, Love Train, and a Tom Petty birthday bash with Petty Luv.

We act in partnership with the Center for the Arts, to host OntheGo performances while renovations are done on their performing arts venue downtown. The Center for the Arts’ Mother’s Day Comedy Special was held here last weekend to a full house. And the Foothills supports the visual arts, too! Come Paint With Us hosts paint and sip classes, the proceeds of which benefit the Lifetime Adoption Foundation.
