Everyone approaches wedding planning in their own way. Some brides-to-be jump in with enthusiasm, while others avoid planning at all costs.

For many, planning their dream wedding starts out fun and exciting but quickly escalates into anxiety. Handling things like a budget, vendors, and unsolicited opinions from friends and family can get stressful. So today, we’re giving you 5 tips to keep your wedding planning fun!

Tip #1: Start Planning Early

The sooner you start to plan, the more options you’ll have for your venue and vendors. Many venues allow you to book in advance. You’re able to reserve the Foothills Event Center for your Nevada County wedding up to one year ahead of time!

Take your time with research, making sure to keep your style and budget in mind. Planning early will give you time to allocate funds, and allows you to avoid any last-minute panic. You don’t want to have to frantically search for a stylist a week before your wedding!

Tip #2: Recognize Your Budget

A recent wedding at the Foothills Event CenterWe know it’s not fun to budget and think about where your money is going, but it’ll help you avoid a lot of stress and panic as your big day gets near. By keeping your budget in mind as you plan, it gives you guidelines and priorities so you can avoid frustration later.

Tip #3: Share Your Plans

Your friends and family will probably be asking you a million questions on your ideas and plans for your wedding. It’s a good idea to share them! By including your friends and family in your planning, it can help you fine-tune your plans and sort out through your choices. Plus, sharing your ideas can help you feel more excited because those close to you will be enthusiastic about your wedding too. Including close friends and family helps them feel like they’re part of the big day.

With that said, it’s good to keep some parts of your wedding a surprise to your guests, such as guests outside of the bridal party and the immediate family. Planning fun surprises like unique ceremony music, personal vows, or fun entertainment for the reception are lovely ways to keep the excitement and anticipation for your wedding day. Plus, fun surprises will make your wedding more memorable for your guests!

Tip #4: Keep it Yours

Many couples are easily influenced by family and friends as they plan their wedding. Remember, this is your special day, so keep it personal. We recommend spending some time with your future spouse to chat so that you can make sure your big day reflects each of you and the story of your relationship.

You have a great love story to share, which your guests will appreciate learning more about. It’s fun to weave your story into the details of your wedding. Some ideas on how to do this include choosing special songs you both love, think photos of your memories together, or showcasing the special moments in your relationship. Your wedding is a celebration of the two of you as a couple. So, the more it matches your styles, the more exciting your big day will be.

Tip #5: Take a Break

Feeling burnt out on wedding planning happens to many couples. Meeting deadlines for reaching decisions is inescapable. But remember that you have a life outside of planning your wedding!

So if planning gets difficult or just gets to be too much, step away and take some time to focus on other things such as friends, family, your job, hobbies, or pets. Have some laidback date nights where you don’t discuss your wedding plans. By taking time to step back, when you step back in you’ll be refreshed and ready to conquer the next task!
